Things You'll Need for the Perfect Brew

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Specialty Coffee Beans

Specialty Coffee Beans

The journey starts with the freshest beans. To elevate your coffee ritual, we recommend our best-selling Yirgacheffe Haru Natural a bright and fruity experience that captures the true essence of specialty coffee.

Coffee Grinder

Coffee Grinder

Freshly ground = maximum flavor. Level up your brew with our precision grinders Varia EVO Hybrid Hand Grinder for consistent, dialed-in extraction.

Spoon to Mix & Stir

Spoon to Mix & Stir

Even the simplest tools can transform your cup. A good stir ensures your grounds are evenly extracted for a smoother, balanced brew. For precision and style, we recommend the Hario Cupping Spoon – Tetsu Kasuya Model — designed by World Brewers Cup Champion Tetsu Kasuya.

Gram Scale

Gram Scale

Consistency in every pour. If you don’t have one yet, use this quick guide: 1 Tbsp ≈ 15g coffee.

Timer

Timer

Great coffee is about timing. Your phone’s timer works perfectly for tracking bloom and total brew time.

Hot Water Kettle

Hot Water Kettle

Any kettle will do. For ideal extraction, aim for 92–96°C (or boil, then rest ~30 seconds before pouring) and pour slowly for control.

  1. Pre-wet filter and discard water.
  2. Add 16g of medium ground coffee.

  4. Slowly pour 40ml of hot water in circular motions and let it "bloom" for 35 seconds.
  5. Add more water until it reaches 100ml.
  6. At 1 minute on the timer, pour until it reaches 180ml and wait a bit.
